Rich Lebbencs Pasta - (Gazdag lebbencs)
Ingredients: serves 6
7 oz/20 dkg boiled slab bacon (császárszalonna), 2 tablespoon cooking oil, 2 onions, 7oz/20 dkg hard pepperoni style sausage, 10 1/2 oz/30 dkg mushrooms, 2.2 lb/1 kg potatoes, 14 oz/40 dkg lebbencs pasta (substitute lasagna broken into 2”
or so pieces), about 1 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon quality paprika, 1 teaspoon marjoram, 1 level tablespoon mild Red Gold, 1/2 teaspoon hot Red Gold (cherry pepper paste)

Dice the bacon into small cubes and toss into a large pot or a cauldron heated up over an open fire. Sprinkle the oil over it. When the bacon has browned the way it should, wilt the onions over it. Take the casing off the sausage and slice into rounds, toss over the onion mixture. Clean and slice the mushrooms into wedges, add to the previous ingredients. Cook over low heat while you peel and dice the potatoes into 3/4” cubes. Toss these and the pasta on top of the rest of the ingredients. Salt it, and season with the paprika, marjoram, and two
kinds of Red Gold, then pour 2 1/2 qt/lt water over it, enough that it covers the food double. Let it come to boil over high heat or a crackling fire, cover, reduce heat (fire) and cook until it nearly absorbs all
the water. Remove from heat and placing a dishcloth folded over twice under the lid, let it rest for 10-15
minutes. It is done when the result is a thick one dish meal. By all means serve with pickled vegetables.
